Two In A Row
The Nanaimo Timbermen who were coming off a big win on Sunday against the New Westminster Salmonbellies came into Saturday's game at Frank Crane Arena with the same attitude, and it showed as they beat the Burnaby Lakers 16-13 in a Mothers Day Game Special.
In the first frame it was Timbermen leading the way scoring five goals, while the Lakers could only score three, Cole Kryworuchka scored two, Connor Leies, Jeremy Roe and Alec Molander all added one.
Danny Spagnuolo, Cam Hudspeth and Jon Bailey scored for the Lakers.
A total of 12 goals were scored in the second period, Brett Hawrys scored four goals in the frame, Connor Leies score two while Alec Molander and Cody short added one. After forty minutes Timbermen led 12-7.
The Lakers in the third period would try and gain some momentum scoring three unanswered goals in the begining but it wasn't enough as the Timbermen would hold off for the 16-13 win, Alec Molander added two and Jermey Roe added one.
Brett Hawrys led the team with eight points, followed by Cole Kryworuchka with six points. Matt Zeller stopped 40 of 53 shots.
