Tough Loss
From the beginning of the game the visiting Delta Islanders had the Nanaimo Junior 'A' Timbermen's number taking the game by a score of 14-6, with credit to five powerplay goals.
Nanaimo's Cole Kryworuchka got on the board first assisted by Corey Lister but the rest of the first period the Islanders controlled the game scoring five unanswered goals before Nanaimo's Brett Hawrys would score to make the game 5-2 heading into the first intermission.
In the second period it was a one step forward, two steps back for the Timbermen as the Islanders would score on the powerplay, followed by Connor Leies;s first ever BCJALL goal but the Islanders would score two more before Brett Hawrys would get his second of the game. Before the end of the second the Islanders would get two more goals to end the period 9-4.
Head Coach Kyle Couling put in Goaltender Matt Zeller, although he stopped 19 shots out of 23 he faced it wasn't enough as the Timbermen would only get two more on the board in the third period, first by Chase Anderson, which was his first BCJALL goal and second by Alec Molander.
The Delta Islanders would spoil the Timbermen's Home Opener by a score of 14-6. Up next Timbermen take on the New Westminster Salmonbellies, Sunday May 3rd.
