TIMBERMEN & SHAMROCKS AGREE TO DEAL
The Nanaimo Junior "A" Timbermen and Island counterparts, the Victoria Jr. "A" Shamrocks agree to terms on a trade that see's the Shamrocks acquire the rights to 2nd year Intermediate Gareth Marriott in exchange for the playing rights to 1st year Junior James Thomson. The deal also included Victoria sending their 5th round pick in 2017's midget entry draft in exchange for Nanaimo's 6th round pick in the same draft.
Thomson is an athletic, right handed defensive player that works hard every shift. He is tenacious on loose balls and can jump into the rush and transition the ball when the opportunity presents itself. Thomson played for the Intermediate A Shamrocks in 2014 and then in 2015 for the Intermediate B Saanich Tigers due to personal and career reasons. He is a focused individual on and off the floor. When "welcomed" to the Timbermen family, James was happy to play Junior "A" lacrosse in Nanaimo but also wished to thank you Shamrocks organization for his time spent with them and for the opportunity to keep playing at the highest level possible on Vancouver Island.
The Nanaimo Jr. "A" Timbermen would like to wish the best to Gareth in his future lacrosse endeavours and again, welcome James Thompson to the Timbermen family!
