Timbermen pull away in third period

Trailing by just two heading into the third period, the Langley Thunder could not get any closer as the visiting Nanaimo Timbermen pulled away for the victory.

The Junior A teams were playing on Sunday afternoon at Langley Events Centre in BC Junior A Lacrosse League action with Nanaimo clinching a post-season berth with the result.

The teams were tied at 3 following 20 minutes with Nanaimo leading 7-5 with a period to play before they used a 6-1 third period to seal the 13-6 victory.

Langley was outshot 67-36 in the game with goaltender Deklan Morrison stopping 26 of 33 shots and Caleb Khan making 28 saves on 34 shots. Austin Vanichuk (1-2) and Jake Newby (1-1) each had multi-point games while Mac Timms, Bailey Vanichuk, Jack Bamford and Temeke7 Gottfriedsen each scoring once.

For Nanaimo, Matt Bos had four goals and 10 points while Ayden McDonald added four goals and one assist and Logan Schmidt had a hat trick and four points. Bostyn McDonald stopped 30 shots.

Langley wraps up their season on July 11 as they host the Port Coquitlam Saints at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:00pm.
