Timbermen Entertain in Home Opening Loss
The Nanaimo Timbermen weren't rewarded in the win column for a hardworking effort against the New Westminster Salmonbellies. Nanaimo trailed only once in regulation but couldn't score in overtime in a 15-11 loss to the 'Bellies.
Period scores were 4-4, 7-6 Nanaimo and 11-11. The Tmen were led by six point efforts from both Brett Hawrys and Brett Fleming in the loss.
On Sunday Nanaimo had a road date with the always strong Coquitlam Adanacs.The A's took an 18-10 decision with Mitch Parker putting up six points for the Tmen and Corey Shires adding five.
After Week 2 Shires is fourth in BCJALL scoring with 15 points.
A weekend trade was also completed by the Timbermen as Taylor Raiche was acquired from Port Coquitlam in exchange for Mikey Vukovich and Pierce Watson. Raiche was in the Nanaimo line up for Sunday's game in Coquitlam.
The Timbermen have only one game this week, that's Saturday May 10th at Frank Crane Arena against Port Coquitlam.
