Langley, BC (October 19, 2017)  The Langley Thunder have announced that Shaun Springett will not return as the team’s Head Coach for the 2018 BCJALL season.

Springett was one of the first hires by the Thunder organization when the Buchan family took over the Jr Thunder and put all three Thunder teams under one banner in 2014. He spent four seasons as Head Coach of the Langley Junior ‘A’ Thunder where he compiled a 9-27-4-1-1 record in his first two years and helped turn the ship around in his final two years with a 20-19-0-1-2 record.

“Shaun has been a big part of our organization from day one and we appreciate everything that he has done for the club on and off the floor,’ said General Manager Rob Buchan. “He has always put the development of players and the long-term success of the team above personal or short-term goals. We wish Shaun nothing but the best in the future.”

Before his tenure with the Junior Thunder, Springett was the assistant coach for the Senior Thunder. In 2012, he received the John Cavallin Merit Award as the B.C. Lacrosse Association’s Senior Coach of the Year and the BCJALL Coach of the Year after guiding the Delta Islanders to the franchise’s first appearance in the league championship series.
