Thunder Host Saints Tonight in Home Opener

Township of Langley, BC (Thursday, May 7, 2015) – With two games already under their belt, the Langley Junior Thunder (1-1) prepare for their home opener tonight when they host the Port Coquitlam Saints (1-2) at 8:00PM at the Langley Events Centre.

The Junior Thunder defeated the Saints in their season opener 11-9 back on April 24 at the Poco Rec Centre. Langley was led by Dylan Lacroix who scored six points (4g, 2a) while Dylan Kaminski and Nathaniel Kozevnikov each had four points in the win. Goaltender Jake Sundar looked in mid-season form, stopping 45 of 54 shots to pick up the victory.

Last Friday, the Junior Thunder fell 12-7 to the Burnaby Lakers, evening their record to 1-1. Langley played a solid opening frame, leading 5-3 but was unable to carry that momentum into the final two periods. The Lakers outscored the Thunder 9-2 in the final forty minutes to come away with the win. Thomas Moffett led Langley with five points (3g, 2a) and Dayton McIntosh scored a hat-trick in the defeat.

The Thunder will get a huge boost as the team’s leading scorer in 2014 (81 points), James Rahe is expected to play, after missing the first two games as the forward is enrolled at Robert Morris University.

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the door.
