Thunder add Munro in trade with Islanders

by Gary Ahuja

Calum Munro is the newest member of the Langley Thunder junior A lacrosse team.

The Thunder acquired Munro from the Delta Islanders in exchange for Vaughn Pinchin. The teams also swapped draft picks with Delta receiving a first round pick (8th overall) and second round pick (11th overall) in the 2024 BC Junior A Lacrosse League Draft while the Thunder receive the Islanders’ third round pick in the 2025 draft. The two picks surrendered by Langley originally belonged to Coquitlam and New Westminster, respectively, before the Thunder acquired them in separate trades.

Munro is a six-foot, 195-pound forward who will be counted on for his finishing ability on the offensive end of the floor.

“He is a goal scorer and we expect him to come in as a veteran player and help out on our right-side,” said Ryan Williams, the Thunder’s assistant general manager and director of scouting.

The first overall pick in the 2020 BCJALL Draft, Munro has scored 22 goals and 54 points in 35 games over his first three seasons.

“I feel like I am a strong off-ball player who can use my physicality to free up my teammates and create movement on offence,” he said.

The Pitt Meadows native is currently playing field lacrosse at High Point University.

Pinchin played last season at the junior tier 1 level for Langley.

“We’d like to thank Vaughn for all his contributions to the Thunder organization and wish him the best moving forward,” Williams said.
