T-Men Drop Exhibition Game
Rough. Tough. Nothing less is expected when the Timbermen take on the Shamrocks no matter if it's an exhibition game or not.
The Timbermen would start the game on the high note as Connor Leies would put one in but that didn't last long as the Shamrocks would retaliate. The Rocks would add another but shortly after Alec Molander on the powerplay received a beautiful pass and would just put it in to tie the game. From there the Shamrocks would run the game scoring four unanswered goals to end the first period 6-2.
Timbermen Goaltender Brad Everson made some key saves; Trace Birley would suit up for the second period.
In the second period the Shamrocks again would continue on their streak scoring another four unanswered but then finally Timbermen Cole Kryworuchka would score on the breakway, followed by Connor Leies second of the night to make it 10-4. That wasn't the end though as Molander would put in two more goals but the Rock would also get two powerplay goals to be ahead 12-6 heading into the third period.
Matt Zeller replaced Trace Birley for the third period.
In the third the Rocks would add only two more goals while the Timbermen would add five but fell short 14-11.
Monty Chisholm, Scott Sylm, Brody Glemnitz, Connor Leies and Cole Kryworuchka all added a goal in the third period.
Head Coach Kyle Couling was rather impressed with his teams performance "I thought overall they played well, little slow to start but really picked things up."
Next up the Jr 'A' Timbermen take on the Sr 'B' Timbermen on Saturday Night where Kyle Couling made note that Jerryd Jensen will play "Jensen will play Saturday and we are excited; seeing him in practice we believe he's really going to help this team make a run this year."
Timbermen open their season on the road with home opener on May 2nd at the Nanaimo Ice Centre VS Delta Islanders.
