Make it four straight wins for the Langley Junior A Thunder.
Trailing 7-6 at the midway point of the game on Sunday afternoon at Langley Events Centre against the visiting Victoria Shamrocks, the Thunder locked down defensively, allowing just a single goal over the final 30 minutes as they rallied for a 12-8 win.
Langley improved to 4-4 while the Shamrocks (6-4) are tied for second in the BC Junior A Lacrosse League standings.
And with the defence and goaltending shutting things down at the one end of the floor, Cody Malawsky led the charge offensively, finishing with six goals and nine points with four of those goals – including the final three – coming in the third period. He also had 20 of his team’s 58 shots on goal.
Bailey Vanichuk (1-5), Cody Todd (2-2), Max Goller (1-3), Mason Eastgate (1-1) and Nathaniel Leroux (1-1) completed the team’s scoring. Marcus Khan entered the game at the midway point, making 11 saves on 12 shots. Caleb Khan finished with 16 saves on 23 shots.
Carter Quested and Joey Bambrick led Victoria with a goal and two assists apiece.
Up next for the Thunder is another home game as the first-place Coquitlam Adanacs (7-2) visit the Langley Events Centre with a 7:00pm start time. For tickets to the game, click here.
