Smith steps down as coach of Junior Thunder
After a decade serving on the coaching staff for the Langley Thunder Junior, head coach Adam Smith has stepped down.
“Coaching this team has been an incredibly rewarding experience and I am proud of what we have accomplished over the past 10 years,” Smith said. “The dedication, talent and spirit of all the players – past and present – has made my time as head coach unforgettable.”
With Smith at the helm in 2022, Thunder advanced to the BC Junior A Lacrosse League championship finals. That season saw Langley finish 10-4 during the regular season, the .714 winning percentage marking an organizational best. That season saw Smith and his staff earn the Doug Hazelwood Memorial Trophy for Coach of the Year.
“Under Adam’s leadership, our program has accomplished some memorable achievements, and we are incredibly grateful for his tireless commitment and guidance over the past 10 years,” said Ryan Williams, the Thunder’s assistant general manager and director of lacrosse operations.
Smith has more than 30 years of playing and coaching experience in the sport at all levels, including with Team Australia for both the 2019 and 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships.
His resume includes 21 championships and six Coach of the Year awards at various levels.
