After opening the third period with three straight goals, the Langley Thunder allowed the game’s final three goals to lose to the host Port Coquitlam Saints 7-6 on Friday night in BC Junior A Lacrosse League action.
The teams were playing at the PoCo Community Centre.
Kyle Brunsch and Declan Fitzpatrick had a pair of goals apiece with Brunsch also adding a pair of assists for the four-point night while Cooper Gettel and Ryan Jensen had the other Langley goals. Kaden Doughty and Trevayne Hunter finished with two assists apiece.
Brayden Wandler was outstanding in goal for the Thunder, with several huge stops among his 25 saves on the evening.
Langley trailed 2-1 after one period and 4-3 through 40 minutes before Brunsch (with a pair) and Gettel scored in a 4:28 span to give the Thunder their first advantage of the game with just over a half period to play. But the Saints scored 21 seconds apart to even the score before striking for the game winner with just over three minutes to play.
The Thunder are back in action with a Sunday afternoon contest as they host the Nanaimo Timbermen at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 4:30 p.m. and can be streamed for free at www.tfsetv.ca.
