Penalty Filled Game Ends with Thunder Loss

The Langley Junior Thunder came back from a three goal deficit and had the lead in the third period but were unable to close it out, losing 9-8 to the New Westminster Junior 'A' Salmonbellies on Thursday night at the Langley Events Centre.

The Thunder led 8-7 when Dylan Lacroix scored at the 14:52 mark of the third period and looked to be en route to victory until the Salmonbellies tied it up with 4:04 left and scored the eventual game-winner six seconds later to spoil the Thunder's two-game unbeaten streak.

The game was a penalty filled affair as both teams combined for 60 penalty minutes and led to five players being ejected, including Langley's leading scorer, James Rahe.

Andrew Gresham (2g, 2a) and Bryce Brochu (3g, 1a) led the Thunder with four points a piece while Jesse Worley and Thomas Moffat each scored three.

Carter Dickson and Nathan Stewart netted three points each for the visitors, who improved their record to 7 wins, 5 losses while Langley dropped to 3 wins, 9 losses and trail New Westminster by six points for the fourth and final playoff spot in the BCJALL.

The Thunder are back in action on Sunday when they visit the Burnaby Junior 'A' Lakers at 7:00PM at the Bill Copeland Arena.
