After scoring four times in the opening dozen minutes, the Langley Thunder offence went silent. And that dry spell proved costly as their opponent scored 11 unanswered goals to hand the Langley a fourth straight defeat.
Facing the Coquitlam Adanacs on May 24 at the Poirier Sports & Leisure Complex, the Thunder fell to 0-4 on the BC Junior A Lacrosse League season following the 13-5 loss.
Langley had led 4-2 after a period and even after going scoreless in the middle stanza, they still held a slim 5-4 lead heading into the second intermission. But the Adanacs struck for five goals in a span of 3:41 and the Thunder could not recover. Coquitlam tacked on another three goals as they found the back of the net eight times in just over half a period. Brayden Bushnoe finally scored for the Thunder with 2:48 remaining, ending a scoreless drought of 45:33.
Coquitlam outshot Langley 57-36 with Caleb Khan stopped 37 of 48 shots before Brayden Wandler came on midway through the third, finishing with seven saves on nine shots. Calum Munro (1-1), Braydon Longacre Nathaniel Leroux, Nathan Roseborsky and Bushnoe each scored once with Austin Vanichuk setting up three goals while Mac Timms finished with a pair of assists.
Kaymen Diabo (3-2), Iorens McComber (3-2) and Jaxon Dillon (2-3) all had five-point games for Coquitlam while Jack Krask stopped 31 of 36 shots.
The Thunder are back in action May 29 with a visit to Burnaby to face the Lakers at Bill Copeland Arena. The team is back at home on May 30 when they host the Adanacs at Langley Events Centre at 7:00pm.
