Tied at seven with under four minutes to play, the Langley Thunder allowed the game's final three goals, falling 10-7 to the Port Coquitlam Saints.
The teams were playing on Friday night at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre in BC Junior A Lacrosse League action with the Thunder falling to 7-3-1 on the season while the Saints improved to 5-4.
Langley went into the first intermission ahead 4-2 thanks to their special teams with Mason Eastgate scoring on the power play while Parker Doyle added a short-handed marker. The middle frame, however, saw the Saints outscore Langley 4-1 for a 6-5 lead with 20 minutes to go.
The Thunder opened the third with two of the first three goals to knot the game at seven but were shutout the rest of the way. Port Coquitlam scored the winner with 3:46 to play before adding an insurance marker with less than two minutes to go and then an empty-netter in the final minute.
The Saints outshot Langley 54-40, including 24-12 in the second period.
Caleb Khan made 44 saves on 53 shots in the goal while Doyle (1-4) led the offence with five points. Eastgate added two goals and Josiah Allen and Austin Vanichuk each had a goal and one helper. Kade Hoogstraten and Koji Okuyama had the other Langley goals.
Elijah Terry led the Saints with four goals and six points with Josh Mills adding a pair of goals and five points.
After back-to-back games -- they won 10-7 the previous night at home over the Delta Islanders -- the Thunder are off until June 18 when they host the Burnaby Lakers at Langley Events Centre with a start time of 7:30pm.
