Junior Thunder Snag a Point in Tie against Saints

Two goals late in the third period helped the Langley Junior Thunder tie the game and pick up a single point against the Port Coquitlam Saints as both teams played to a 7-7 tie on Thursday night at the Langley Events Centre.

Trailing 7-5 with less than six minutes left in the third period, Thomas Moffat and Alex Gibbs scored less than a minute apart to force the game into overtime. A ten-minute overtime period solved nothing as the Thunder move to 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 tie after three games in the BCJALL season..

Nathaniel Kozevnikov scored a game-high three points while Moffat and James Rahe each had a goal and an assist for the Thunder.

Langley led 3-2 after the first period thanks to goals Garrett Brown, Dylan Lacroix and Kozevnikov. Rahe scored the team's lone goal of the second period as the forward found the back of the net with one second left in the quarter but still trailed 5-4 after forty minutes. The Saints would extend their lead to two goals after an early goal before Dayton McIntosh countered for the home team to cut the Saints lead to 6-5. Port Coquitlam would get their two goal lead back mid-way through the third period putting them back up 7-5.

Jake Sundar got his third straight start in goal for the Thunder as the netminder faced 37 shots.

Langley will head to Vancouver Island this weekend for a matchup against the Victoria Shamrocks on Saturday afternoon. Faceoff is at 5:00PM at the Q Centre.
