On the Victoria Day long weekend, it was the Victoria visitors who would prevail.

The Victoria Junior Shamrocks used a dominant third period to turn a tight contest into a one-sided affair as they scored six goals over the final 20 minutes.

The end result was a 13-8 win over the Langley Junior Thunder at the Langley Events Centre on Sunday afternoon in BC Junior A Lacrosse League action.

The teams were tied at three goals apiece after one period and the score was 7-7 after 40 minutes.

But the final frame belonged to the Shamrocks as they scored four goals in just under five minutes to create separation.

The win improved the Shamrocks to 4-2-1 while Langley fell to 2-3-0.

Test Oakes led the Thunder offence with two goals and two helpers while Ryan Martel also tallied twice.

Chase Moore, Dylan Mcintosh, Matt Brunch and Nathaniel Kozevnikov had the other Thunder goals.

Torin Vanrheenen made 36 saves in the loss as Langley was outshot 49-42.

Braylon Lumb led the Shamrocks with four goals and three helpers and Brad McCulley had three goals and six points. Brayden Brown and Eddie Smith chipped in with a pair of goals apiece.

Next up for Langley is another home game, May 24 as they welcome the Burnaby Junior Lakers to the LEC. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The LEC, which opened in 2009, is well situated in the beautiful, agriculture-rich Fraser Valley in the Township of Langley, BC. It is home to the Vancouver Giants (Western Hockey League), Vancouver Stealth (National Lacrosse League) and BC High School Girls and Boys Provincial Basketball Tournaments.
