Junior Thunder Look to Play Spoiler as they Host Islanders
Township of Langley, BC (Thursday, July 2, 2015) – The Langley Junior Thunder (5-11-3) play their second to last regular season game tonight when they host the Delta Junior ‘A’ Islanders (12-6-1) at 8:00PM at the Langley Events Centre.
The Thunder are coming off a 9-9 tie last Saturday in Victoria. Forward Dylan Lacroix scored the game-tying goal with 44 seconds left in the third period to force overtime and goaltender Zach Wickett was impressive for Langley, stopping 53 shots.
Langley has been eliminated from the post-season and will look to play spoiler against the second place Junior ‘A’ Islanders. The four playoff teams have already been set as Delta along with Coquitlam, Victoria and New Westminster have clinched playoff berths. While the Adanacs have first place locked up, spots two through four are up for grabs as each of three teams have 25 points with two games remaining.
Delta played to a 6-6 tie in their last game on Tuesday against New Westminster. Rookie Tre Leclaire continues to lead the league in goals (38), assists (49) and points (87). He was the first overall selection by Delta in the 2015 BCJALL Entry Draft back in January. The Islanders final regular season game will be on Sunday when they host the first place Adanacs.
The Junior Thunder will be without Thomas Moffat and Connor Abrams who were traded to the Junior ‘A’ Shamrocks on Tuesday in exchange for a second round pick in the 2017 Draft.
Langley's final game of the regular season will be on Sunday when they host the Nanaimo Timbermen at 5:00PM at the LEC.
