Junior Thunder Face Stiff Test against Top Team in BCJALL

Township of Langley, BC (Thursday, June 25, 2015) – The Langley Junior Thunder (5-10-2) face-off off against the hottest team in the BCJALL tonight, the Coquitlam Junior ‘A’ Adanacs (15-1) at 8:00PM at the Langley Events Centre.

The Adanacs have won their last 14 games and have all but locked up top spot in the league. The Junior Thunder have had an up and down season, sitting in fifth place and after their loss to Nanaimo last Sunday, have been officially eliminated from the postseason. A bright spot for the Thunder has been forward James Rahe, who ranks top five in the league in points (63), goals (29) and assists (34). This will be Rahe’s final season with the Junior Thunder as he will be eligible for the WLA Draft next year.

Aside from an overtime loss against Victoria early in the season, the Adanacs have been unstoppable, dominating opponents, scoring 10 or more goals in 14 of 16 games and have yet to allow 10 or more goals in a game this season.

Langley ranks middle of the pack in goals for with 156 but have had trouble on the back-end as they’ve allowed 203 goals against, ranking seventh among the eight teams. They’ll have their hands full against a Coquitlam team that has scored 198 goals (2nd) and allowed a league low 97 goals against, the only team in the BCJALL that has allowed under 100 goals at this point of the season. Goaltender Christian Del Bianco ranks top among goaltenders in wins (9), goals against average (6.00) and save percentage (0.860).

After tonight, the Junior Thunder will travel to Victoria on Saturday and return home to round out their season with their final two games at the Langley Events Centre against Delta and Nanaimo.
