Junior Thunder add 'total package' in Zekie Terry

His new coach calls him ‘the total package’.
“He’s a big, athletic lefty and really the total package,” said coach Matt Beers of Zekie Terry, who has signed to join the Langley Junior Thunder program ahead of the 2026 BC Junior A Lacrosse League season.
“He plays with grit, sees the floor extremely well and understands how to create opportunities. His skill set is going to be a big asset for us,” Beers said.
Terry is a 6-foot-5 left-handed forward is finishing his final year of high school at the IMG Academy. He is committed to join Ohio State University where he will play for the Buckeyes field lacrosse program.
“Committing to a program of that caliber speaks to the level of player he is,” Beers said.
While Terry’s primary experience has been in field lacrosse, he has competed in box tournaments throughout high school and gained valuable insight from elite players such as Callum Crawford and Phil Caputo.
“I try to watch film on all the great players and take pieces of their game to improve my own," Terry said.
“I’ve been playing lacrosse since I was four years old,” Terry said. “I’m the youngest of three boys, so I started playing as soon as I could.”
Describing his game, Terry is confident in what he brings to the offensive end.
“I’m a big, left-handed shooter with good hands,” he said. “I pride myself on working hard and doing whatever it takes to help the team win.”
“He comes from a family that shares a deep passion for lacrosse, and I’m excited to watch his game continue to evolve over the next few years. He’s going to be a special player, Beers said, adding he believes Terry’s skill set will translate seamlessly to the box game.
One of the key reasons Terry chose Langley was the opportunity to develop under Beers’ leadership.
“I’ve heard nothing but great things about Matt Beers and the Thunder organization,” Terry said. “I’m very excited to play in Langley for the next three summers. From what I know, this is a young, talented group that’s ready to win.”
Thunder General Manager Ryan Williams called the signing a significant addition to the roster.
“We’re very happy to have signed Zekie Terry and to be able to watch him compete in a Langley Thunder uniform for the next three years,” Williams said. “He brings size and presence to the left side of our offense, and after watching his field film, we believe his game will transition to box lacrosse very quickly.
Beers added that the move strengthens the organization across the board.
“This is a huge signing for our program,” he said. “We already have a wealth of talent in Langley, and bringing in Zekie adds an element we were missing on the left side. We continue to build depth at every position, and our youth and talent will put teams on notice this season.”
Terry is expected to arrive in Langley in late May following the completion of his senior year at IMG Academy.
