Jr. Thunder rally for single point
The Langley Junior Thunder rallied twice, earning a valuable single point in the standings.
The junior A lacrosse team was in Burnaby to face the Junior Lakers in BC Junior A Lacrosse League action, settling for a 9-9 tie.
Langley led 6-5 after 40 minutes but fell behind 8-6 with 5:29 to play. But Anthony Kalinich cut the deficit to one and Connor Watson forced overtime with 26 seconds to play. And after Burnaby went ahead 9-8 in the 10-minute overtime period, Nathan Kozevnikov pulled the Thunder even with 1:50 to go.
Langley sits in fifth place with a record of 6-5-1 while Burnaby is sixth, but well back at 2-10-1.
Watson finished with two goals and four assists while Kozevnikov had a hat trick. Ryan Martel (two goals, one assist) and Tesi Oakes (three assists) each had three-point games while Ty Ewen rounded out the scoring with a goal and one helper.
The Thunder are back in action on Sunday (June 17) as they host the Nanaimo Junior Timbermen at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
