Jr. Thunder fall short in New West
The Langley Junior Thunder dropped a 10-6 decision to the New Westminster Junior Salmonbellies as their BC Junior A Lacrosse League season winds down.
The Thunder were at New Westminster’s Queen’s Park Arena on Tuesday night but could not hold on to a 4-3 second-period lead. With the score tied at five, the ‘Bellies went ahead for good with a minute to play in the middle frame and then scored four of the five goals in the final period.
Matt Brunsch and Chase Moore led the Langley offence with two goals apiece while Dylan McIntosh and Christian Bosa scored once apiece.
The loss dropped Langley to 9-9-1 and the team finishes their season with road games Friday in Port Coquitlam and Saturday in Ladner.
Prior to the BCJALL trade deadline on June 30, the Thunder made a pair of moves.
In one, they traded captain Tyson Kirkness to Coquitlam for the playing rights of Kyle Nichols, and in the other, Bobby Kidd III and Nathaniel Kozevnikov were sent to New Westminster for future considerations.
