Islanders rout Thunder

Nine different players found the back of the net as the Delta Islanders were 16-6 winners over the Langley Thunder.
The two teams squared off on Thursday night at Langley Events Centre in BC Junior A Lacrosse League action with the visiting Islanders scoring 11 unanswered goals to rout the winless Thunder.
Langley’s record fell to 0-8 on the season with Delta improving to 2-3.
The Thunder led 1-0 early into the contest but with the score tied at one, Delta scored a pair of short-handed goals 27 seconds apart on the same penalty and was off to the races.
Langley did cut the lead to 11-5 early in the third period before the Islanders closed on a 5-1 run. Nathaniel Leroux had a hat trick to lead the Thunder offence while Austin Vanichuk (1-2), Bailey Vanichuk (1-1) and Calum Munro (0-2) also had multi-point games. Brayden Bushnoe had the other Thunder goal.
Brayden Wandler (23 saves on 31 shots) and Deklan Morrison (22 saves on 30 shots) both saw time in the Thunder net. Delta’s Noah Dibattista made 41 saves at the other end of the floor.
Austin Lamoureux led the Islanders offence with four goals and two assists and Scott Williams had a hat trick and six points. Delta finished with four short-handed goals in the contest.
The Thunder are back at it on Saturday (June 8) with a trip to Nanaimo to face the Timbermen at Frank Crane Arena.
