Doyle wins rookie of the year, Khan and Okuyama named all-stars

Parker Doyle capped an outstanding first season with the Langley Thunder by winning the 2026 Marcolis Gilson Award as the BC Junior A Lacrosse League Rookie of the Year.

Doyle finished tied for second in goals, third in points and tied for the team lead in points per game, recording 18 goals and 40 points in 13 games during his rookie campaign.

“Parker had an outstanding season and this award is well deserved,” said Thunder head coach Matt Beers. “He came into the season with a lot of expectations, and he continued to get better throughout the year. His ability to make plays, compete and contribute offensively was a big part of our success, and we’re proud of what he accomplished this past season.”

Doyle was also named to the league’s all-rookie team, while two other Thunder players earned recognition for their performances this past season. Goaltender Caleb Khan and defender Koji Okuyama were both named second-team all-stars.

“We are also really proud of Caleb and Koji,” Beers said. “They both had excellent seasons and played important roles for us.”

Khan posted an 8.11 goals-against average along with an .838 save percentage during the season.

Okuyama was a constant threat in transition, using his speed to contribute 15 goals and 23 points while posting a .405 shooting percentage — second among players with 10 or more goals.

Khan enters his fourth year of junior eligibility in 2027 while both Doyle and Okuyama are heading into year three. Players have five years of junior eligibility.
