Back-to-back wins for Junior Thunder

Make it back-to-back wins for the Langley Junior A Thunder.
Fresh off their first victory of the season last week, the Thunder scored a season-high with 15 goals, defeating the Burnaby Lakers 15-8 in BC Junior A Lacrosse League action at Burnaby’s Bill Copeland Arena on Wednesday night.
Langley improved to 2-4 and avenged an earlier 9-8 loss to the Lakers on May 29 with Burnaby now sporting a 1-8 record.
The Lakers jumped out to a 2-0 lead and were ahead 3-1 just past the midway point of the opening period before Langley levelled the score at 4 at the intermission and then tacked on another seven goals in the middle frame for a 11-7 lead. Burnaby was then held to a single goal over the final 20 minutes.
Wednesday’s win marked the season debut of Thunder captain Cody Malawsky, who finished with four goals and seven points. Parker Doyle (2-3), Max Goller (2-2) and Max Larsen (2-1) each scored twice and Mac Timms had three assists. Bailey Vanichuk (1-2), Jacob Glass (1-1), Cody Todd, Koji Okuyama and Ben Gagnon added a goal apiece while goaltender Marcus Khan finished with 42 saves on 50 shots.
Rowan Birrell led the Lakers with a hat trick and four points.
The Thunder will look for a third straight win when they host the Port Coquitlam Saints at Langley Events Centre on June 12. Game time is 7:00pm. Click here for tickets.
